About Our School Staff

At Elora Road Christian School (ERCS), our devoted and professional staff work hand-in-hand with parents to ensure our students flourish in their educational journey. Deeply engaged in their own Christian growth and development, they serve as inspiring role models for our students. Our staff continually participate in ongoing educational experiences to provide the highest quality education and heartfelt support.

Cindy Westendorp

Principal

B.Sc. Human Kinetics (University of Guelph), B.Ed. (Queens University), OCT, Van Lunen Fellow

Cindy has been part of the Elora Road Christian School community for almost 20 years. She began as a parent in 2005 and has seen her three children graduate from ERCS, finish high school, and pursue post-secondary education. In 2007, Cindy began teaching science to grade 7/8 students and took on the role of Athletic Director. She continued in this role for ten years before becoming principal in 2017. Cindy has a passion for education and seeks to help each student learn in a way that is meaningful to them. She also works hard to create a school environment where each staff member, student, and parent feels safe, accepted, and supported. She desires that each person who walks through the door of the school experiences the love of God in tangible ways and is motivated to share this love with the rest of the world.

Annette deVries

JK/SK

ECE diploma (Conestoga College)

Annette is an enthusiastic and creative teacher who makes learning fun for our youngest students. After working in a daycare setting for many years, she joined our staff in 2016. Annette loves watching her students grow in confidence over the school year and works hard to ensure they are ready to transition to Grade 1. When she is not at school, Annette enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Cathy Henry-Sired

JK/SK, Teacher Assistant

Cathy’s involvement with ERCS began as a parent and active member of our Parent Council. In 2023, she joined our staff as a kindergarten assistant. She enjoys watching the children learn and grow each day and loves the adventure of seeing our young students succeed. In addition to working with our students, Cathy has been a children’s face painter at birthday parties, festivals, and other children’s events for the past 20 years.

Dee Butler

Grade 1/2

B.Ed. (University of Calgary), OCT

Dee is a seasoned primary teacher who joined the ERCS staff in 2018. Dee loves to see students grow in their reading and writing skills. She also enjoys teaching Bible stories and seeing her students learn from the Bible characters. Outside of school, Dee likes reading, baking, ice skating, hiking, and relaxing on the beach.

B.A. Music (Redeemer University), B.Ed. (Charles Stuart University), OCT

Emily spent time teaching in elementary classrooms for 10 years before beginning her teaching position at ERCS in the fall of 2024. She is excited to return to teaching after taking some time away to raise her family. She enjoys seeing children learn and loves to see God working in their lives. Emily also enjoys spending time with her family reading, playing games, having movie nights, and being outside.

Leslie Bauman

Grade 3/4

B.Sc. Kinesiology (Laurentian University), B.Ed. (University of Western Ontario), OCT

Leslie began her career teaching high school science and math, then spent many years homeschooling her five children before joining our staff in 2019. She loves seeing her students excited and engaged in their learning by doing experiments, playing games, or participating in group activities. She also enjoys reading high-quality literature to her students and helping to deepen their understanding of story-telling. Her hobbies include biking, hiking, reading, puzzles, knitting, camping, and spending time with her family.

Alissa joined the ERCS team in 2023 after teaching for many years in other Christian schools. She delights in sharing the wonder of God’s creation with others, creating engaging lessons, and helping children master new skills while discovering their God-given gifts. Alissa also enjoys working with our neurodiverse students and helping them to succeed in their studies. Her hobbies include gardening, reading, hiking, and kayaking, and she helps with children’s ministry programs at her church.

Candice Duimering

Grade 5/6

B.A. (University of Waterloo), B.Ed. (D’Youville University), ABQ (Brock University)

Candice has been a part of the ERCS community since 2007, starting as a student teacher and moving to a classroom teacher for fi ve years before taking time off to have three children with her husband, an ERCS alumni. She is excited to return to the classroom full-time, as her passion is teaching. Candice loves to develop a love of learning in her students and works hard to create engaging lessons. Outside school, she enjoys camping, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family and their dog.

B.Sc. Math and Computer Programming & B.Ed. (University of Texas) Teacher Grade 7/8 , Vice Principal

Pam has a special love for grade 7 and 8 students and has taught at this level for over 30 years. Math is her favourite subject, and she enjoys seeing students’ spark of interest develop when they encounter new ideas and face challenges. She spends much of her free time volunteering with Restorative Justice initiatives, supporting ex-prisoners as they reintegrate into society. She wholeheartedly believes that volunteering is a necessary part of building stronger communities. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jen Mullet

Music

B.A. Music (McMaster University), B.Ed. (University of Toronto)

Jen began her teaching career as a high school music teacher, and her love of music is evident in every area of her life. She plays 16 musical instruments and has shared her musical skills with ERCS students since 2018. She has worked hard to create our band program and introduced ukulele to our curriculum in 2020. Jen enjoys spending time with her family when she isn’t at school.

Julie Klapwyk

Grade 7-8 French

B.Sc. (University of Guelph), Prof. Deg. (University of Ottawa)

Madame Julie was born and raised in a French-speaking home. She completed grade school, high school, and some post-secondary education in French. Since joining our team in 2022, she has worked diligently with our senior students to improve their French skills. When she is not at work, you can find her at the rink cheering on her three hockey-loving girls, enjoying the garden, or cross-country skiing on the farm.

B.AS. Human Development (University of Guelph)

Valerie’s experiences as a tutor, homeschool teacher, educational assistant, and support worker for adults and children with ADHD and other learning challenges have well-equipped her to bring out the best in our neurodiverse students. Since 2019, she has worked hard each day to remove barriers to learning so that all children at ERCS can reach their God-given potential. She loves spending time with students and watching them gain confidence. Outside school, she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Arden Reinhart

Educational Assistant

B.Sc. Psychology, Brain & Cognition (University of Guelph)

Arden has worked in special education for many years. She began working at ERCS in 2022 as an Educational Assistant as part of our Student Support Services team and returned in 2024 after her maternity leave. Arden loves to work with students who need extra academic and/or behavioural support, whether one-on-one or in the classroom. She strives to help every student reach their full God-given potential.

Alicia is an Elora Road Christian School alumni and parent who loves being part of the ERCS community. She enjoys working behind the scenes and helping things run smoothly. Her hard work and dedication make her a valuable member of our team. In her spare time, Alicia enjoys reading and gardening.
